I don’t need fireworks on date one

A first date can be good without feeling like a movie scene. Sometimes wanting to know more is enough.

I used to put a lot of pressure on the first date. If there was not instant chemistry, I assumed the answer was obvious. But some of the people I liked most became interesting slowly.

Now I pay attention to simpler things. Did conversation feel natural? Did I laugh? Was I curious about them? Did I feel like myself, or was I performing the whole time?

That has made dating calmer. I do not need to know the ending after one drink or one dinner.

A good first date, for me, is mostly one that makes a second date sound genuinely nice.
